In my journal each morning. . .
I remind myself that my fear of future outcomes has NEVER been as bad as I imagined.
And I almost believe it.
About the pain in my knee. . .
My knee was hyper-extended several weeks ago by a couple of super playful dogs.
The healing process is slow.
I’m healthy enough…
No more resolutions aimed at self-improvement to fix some perceived deficiency or lack.
I’m starting from a position of accepting myself as-is.
I’ll be looking for resolutions and new habits…
Self is not a problem to fix.
That was a comment from Dr. Zindel Segal who was interviewed on the Dan Harris podcast (Ten Percent Happier).
I stopped the podcast…
A maxed-out inbox has become normal. But, it’s a very real source of stress that we can eliminate with a little effort.
Psychologist, Ron Friedman, says “each message represents another demand on your time and another decision you have to make.”
How does it feel when you start your day staring at a screen full of unread email — and at the end of the day, you still can’t see the bottom of your inbox.
You may think that ignoring all that unread mail is putting it “out of mind.”
Your subconscious is always aware of that endless list of…
This isn’t a pitch on “How to Become a Millionaire on the Internet.”
It’s my story about how to start from nothing and make a decent income — either full time or on the side.
If you're willing to start cheaply and put in some long hours, you can do the same.
It all started on Fiverr.
The first time I heard about the Fiverr platform I thought it was a joke. Why would anyone in their right mind do any work for $5?
I assumed the people doing this kind of work were from countries where $5 had a…
Someone recently asked me “What is the most effective way have gratitude?”
With the pandemic on everyone’s mind, I need to revisit the topic — for myself and anyone else that cares to listen.
At one time I scoffed at the concept of the power of gratitude - gratitude “journaling” and such. The idea felt too fake, disingenuous, or delusional.
Reading the book (The Happiness Advantage) by Shawn Achor changed my mind — or at least opened me up to the possibilities.
Achor has done a lot of research and posits that happiness precedes success — which is the opposite…
Seth Godin wrote “ . . . writing is a symptom of thinking.”
I’ve been really busy lately — which is a good thing considering how many people are stuck at home and can’t work.
Has my workload impaired my ability to think clearly?
Or is this the result of a little thing called a Pandemic that is constantly in the back of my mind . . . ?
It seems impossible to sit down and bang on the keyboard for 30 minutes and say anything meaningful.
My brain keeps making connections from my current topic to something I read…
I start my day with a list of my 3 most important tasks to accomplish.
Everything else is written down and labeled a secondary item. If I finish the top 3 I’ll move on to the secondary list.
When I start working on the 1st item in my top 3, I turn off social media, silence my phone, and otherwise optimize my environment.
It’s not perfect, but works fairly well.
So — I’m feeling proud of myself for not multi-tasking.
Until . . .
It’s German and has English subtitles.
That’s when I realize that I’m addicted to using my…
In the book Great Leads, Michael Masterson tells us that a great advertisement talks about one thing. It doesn’t try to explain every single feature and benefit.
That’s always been a challenge when I’ve written any type of sales copy. It doesn’t matter if the copy is for a retail package or a website. The natural instinct is to squeeze in the entire story about a product and shove it in the face of the consumer.
It’s not only a natural instinct of mine — clients often demand this approach.
I’ve read a similar message from Gary Keller in The…
